Frequently Asked Questions About Black Phosphate Drywall Screw

Q1: Is the black phosphate coating rust-proof?

A:  Black phosphate coating provides a moderate level of corrosion resistance and excellent lubricity for driving, but it is not fully rust-proof. This finish is primarily designed for interior drywall installation, where moisture exposure is minimal. For outdoor applications, high-humidity areas (e.g., bathrooms without ventilation), or exterior cladding, we strongly recommend our zinc-plated or stainless steel alternatives.

Q2: What’s the difference between drywall screws, wood screws, and self-drilling screws?

A: While they may look similar, they serve different purposes:

FeatureDrywall ScrewsWood ScrewsSelf-Drilling Screws
Thread DesignFine-thread (for steel studs) or coarse-thread (for timber)Coarse, deep threads for wood gripVariable threads with a drill point
Head ShapeBugle head (countersinks smoothly without tearing paper)Flat/round head with under-head bearingHex/pan head with washer
PointSharp needle point (self-tapping)Sharp tapered pointDrill-point (no pre-drilling needed)
Primary UsePlasterboard to studsSolid wood joineryMetal-to-metal or metal-to-wood

We do not recommend using drywall screws for structural wood framing or heavy load-bearing applications, as they have lower shear strength than dedicated structural screws. For best results, always match the screw to the specific substrate and load requirement.

Q3: How many pieces are there per box?

A: Our standard packing is 1kg per box (quantity varies by size – approx. 900–1,200 pcs for 25mm–35mm lengths). We also offer bulk packages for large-scale contractors and small blister packs for DIY/hardware store channels.

Beyond standard weight-based packing, we provide custom piece-count packing (e.g., 1,000 pcs/box exactly) and private-label box printing with your brand logo. Please let us know your target market and preferred packing format, and we will tailor a solution for you.
